Crispy Honey Garlic Chicken

Ingredients:

For Crispy Chicken:

  • 3 chicken breasts, skinless and boneless
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1 tsp mustard powder
  • 1/2 tsp chili flakes
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/4 tsp white pepper, freshly crushed
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper, freshly crushed
  • 4 to 6 tbsp vegetable oil

For Honey Garlic Sauce:

  • 1 tsp olive oil
  • 2/3 cup honey
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 1/3 tbsp cornstarch
  • 3 to 4 tbsp water
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds (optional)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

Preparation of Crispy Chicken:

  1. Butterfly cut the chicken breasts all the way through to make six pieces out of three chicken breasts. Pound them roughly to 1/2 to 1/4 inch thickness and set them aside.
  2. In a deep dish, mix flour, cayenne pepper, smoked paprika, mustard powder, chili flakes, garlic powder, white pepper, black pepper, and salt.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk eggs with 1 tbsp of cold water.
  4. Dredge the chicken in the egg mixture first and then in the flour mixture, ensuring they are well coated.
  5. Repeat the process with all chicken pieces and set them aside.
  6. Heat vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry the prepared chicken for 4 to 5 minutes on each side or until crispy and well-cooked.
  7. Once fried, transfer the chicken to a cooling rack to keep them crispy.

Preparation of Honey Garlic Sauce:

  1. In a saucepan, heat olive oil over low heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for a minute.
  2. Remove the pan from the heat and add honey and soy sauce. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer and season with salt and pepper.
  3. In a separate bowl, dissolve cornstarch in water.
  4. Add the cornstarch mixture to the saucepan and mix well. Let the sauce simmer until it thickens.

Assembly:

  1. Pour the thickened honey garlic sauce over the crispy chicken. Optionally, sprinkle sesame seeds over the chicken.
  2. Toss the chicken well with the sauce.
  3. Serve immediately and enjoy!
