Ingredients
-
1 (9-inch) pie crust, rolled to fit a 12-inch pizza pan
-
4 cups diced, peeled apples (about 4 medium apples)
-
⅔ cup granulated sugar
-
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
-
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
-
½ cup all-purpose flour
-
⅓ cup packed brown sugar
-
½ cup old-fashioned oats
-
1 teaspoon cinnamon
-
¼ cup unsalted butter, softened
-
½ cup caramel sauce
-
Vanilla ice cream (optional)
Instructions
1. Preheat and Prepare:
-
Heat oven to 350°F (175°C).
-
Roll out your pie crust to fit a 12-inch pizza pan.
-
Lightly fold the edges up to form a raised border, just like pizza crust.
2. Make the Apple Layer:
-
In a medium bowl, stir together sugar, flour, and cinnamon.
-
Add diced apples and toss until evenly coated.
-
Spread the apple mixture evenly over the pie crust.
3. Make the Crumb Topping:
-
In a separate bowl, combine flour, brown sugar, oats, and cinnamon.
-
Add softened butter and mix with a fork or your fingers until the texture resembles coarse crumbs.
-
Sprinkle this topping evenly over the apple layer.
4. Bake:
-
Place in the oven and bake for 35–40 minutes, or until apples are soft and the topping is golden and crisp.
5. Drizzle and Serve:
-
Remove from oven and immediately drizzle with warm caramel sauce.
-
Slice into wedges like pizza and serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream if desired.
Notes
-
If your caramel is too thick to drizzle, microwave it for 10–15 seconds.
-
Feel free to double the topping if you love extra crunch.
-
Serve warm for the best texture and flavor experience.
