Ingredients
Scale
1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup milk
1 large egg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon melted butter
1 cup finely diced apples
Vegetable oil, for frying
1 cup powdered sugar
2–3 tablespoons milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
- Prepare the Batter:
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt.
- In a separate bowl, combine the milk, egg, vanilla extract, and melted butter.
- Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Gently fold in the diced apples.
- Heat the Oil:
- Pour about 2 inches of vegetable oil into a deep skillet or saucepan. Heat to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the Fritters:
- Using a spoon or small cookie scoop, drop dollops of batter into the hot oil. Fry in batches to avoid overcrowding.
- Cook for 2-3 minutes per side, or until golden brown.
- Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
- Make the Glaze:
- In a small bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
- Glaze and Serve:
- Drizzle the glaze over the warm fritter bites or dip them entirely.
- Serve immediately for the best taste and texture.
Notes
- For a thicker glaze, use less milk. For a thinner glaze, add more milk gradually.
- These fritter bites are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored as directed.
