Ingredients

  • 2 pounds of beef stew meat
  • 1 can (10 ounces) of condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 packet of brown gravy mix
  • 1 cup of beef broth
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon of cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon of water

Preparation

  1. Start the Gravy Mixture: In a medium bowl, whisk together the cream of mushroom soup, gravy mix, beef broth, onion, and garlic. It’s okay if it’s a bit lumpy; these will smooth out during cooking.
  2. Crockpot Cooking: Place the beef stew meat in a 4-quart crockpot. Pour the prepared gravy mixture over the meat and give it a little stir to combine. Cover and cook on LOW for 7 hours.
  3. Thicken the Gravy: Once the meat is cooked, remove it from the crockpot with a slotted spoon and set aside. Stir in the cornstarch-water mixture into the crockpot to thicken the gravy.
  4. Final Steps: After the gravy has thickened, return the meat to the crockpot and let it simmer for an additional 5 minutes.
  5. Serving Suggestion: This dish goes perfectly with some creamy mashed potatoes or egg noodles for a hearty and satisfying meal.
