Ingredients:
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup white sugar
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 2 teaspoons hot water
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth and creamy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract until well combined.
- In a small bowl, dissolve the baking soda in hot water. Add this mixture to the batter along with the salt, and mix until fully incorporated.
- Gradually stir in the all-purpose flour until a soft dough forms. Then, fold in the semisweet chocolate chips and chopped walnuts, if using, until evenly distributed throughout the dough.
- Drop the cookie dough by large spoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets, leaving some space between each cookie for spreading.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 10 minutes, or until the edges of the cookies are nicely browned and the centers are set.
- Remove the cookies from the oven and allow them to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.
- Once cooled, indulge in these mouthwatering chocolate chip cookies! Enjoy with a glass of cold milk for the ultimate treat.
