- 1 cup packed brown sugar

Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.

- Dissolve the baking soda in hot water, then add it to the batter along with salt.
