Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (30-ounce) bag frozen shredded hash browns, thawed

  • 1 lb beef Bacon breakfast sausage

  • ½ cup finely chopped onion

  • 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese

  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella cheese

  • ½ tsp garlic powder

  • ½ tsp onion powder

  • Salt and black pepper to taste

  • ¼ cup unsalted butter

  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour

  • 2½ cups whole milk

  • ¼ tsp ground black pepper

  • Pinch of salt

  • 1 (16-ounce) can refrigerated buttermilk biscuits (8-count)

Instructions

1. Preheat and Prep

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  • Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with nonstick spray or butter.

2. Cook the Sausage Mixture

  • In a large skillet, cook beef Bacon sausage over medium heat.

  • Add chopped onions and sauté until the sausage is browned and cooked through.

  • Drain any excess grease and set aside.

3. Make the Creamy Gravy

  • In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat.

  • Whisk in flour and cook for 1 minute to form a roux.

  • Gradually add milk, whisking constantly to avoid lumps.

  • Cook for 5–7 minutes until thick and smooth.

  • Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

4. Assemble the Casserole

  • In a large bowl, mix thawed hash browns, sausage-onion mixture, cheddar cheese, mozzarella cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.

  • Spread this mixture evenly into the greased baking dish.

5. Add Gravy and Biscuits

  • Pour the prepared gravy over the hashbrown mixture and gently spread it to cover the surface.

  • Place the biscuits evenly on top, spacing them apart for even baking.

6. Bake to Perfection

  • Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes.

  • Remove foil and bake an additional 15–20 minutes or until biscuits are golden brown and fully cooked.
