Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups cabbage, finely shredded (for texture and nutrients)
- 1 cup carrots, grated (adds sweetness and color)
- 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped (for a savory base)
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (or more if needed, for binding)
- 1 egg (acts as a binder)
- 1 tsp garlic powder (for a bold, savory flavor)
- 1 tsp ground cumin (optional, for a warm, earthy note)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tbsp olive oil (for frying)
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish and freshness)
Instructions
- Prepare the Vegetables:
- Finely shred the cabbage and grate the carrots.
- Place the shredded cabbage in a clean kitchen towel and squeeze out as much moisture as possible. This step is crucial for crispy patties!
- Mix the Ingredients:
- In a large bowl, combine the shredded cabbage, grated carrots, chopped onion, egg, breadcrumbs, garlic powder, cumin (if using), salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined. If the mixture is too wet, add more breadcrumbs as needed.
- Shape the Patties:
- Take small handfuls of the mixture and shape them into patties, about 2-3 inches in diameter.
- Cook the Patties:
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
- Add the patties to the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.
- Drain and Garnish:
- Transfer the cooked patties to a plate lined with paper towels to drain any excess oil.
- Garnish with chopped fresh parsley.
- Serve:
- Serve the patties hot with your favorite dipping sauce or as a side dish.
