Ingredients
-
1 box yellow cake mix
-
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
-
1 large egg
-
1 cup toffee bits
-
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
-
1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
-
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
-
Pinch of sea salt
Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven
-
Preheat to 350°F (175°C).
-
Grease or line a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper for easy removal.
2. Make the Dough
-
In a medium bowl, combine cake mix, melted butter, and egg.
-
Mix until a thick dough forms.
3. Form the Crust
-
Press 2/3 of the dough evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan to form the base layer.
4. Layer the Filling
-
In a separate bowl, whisk together sweetened condensed milk, vanilla extract, and sea salt.
-
Sprinkle toffee bits and chocolate chips evenly over the crust.
-
Pour the condensed milk mixture over the top.
5. Add the Topping
-
Crumble the remaining dough over the top layer. It doesn’t have to cover completely.
6. Bake
-
Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden brown and bubbly at the edges.
7. Cool and Slice
-
Let bars cool completely in the pan.
-
For clean slices, chill in the fridge for 1 hour before cutting into squares.
Notes
-
For extra caramel flavor, use a caramel-flavored sweetened condensed milk if available.
-
Be sure not to overbake—the center will set as it cools.
