Ingredients

  • 1 box yellow cake mix

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted

  • 1 large egg

  • 1 cup toffee bits

  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

  • 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk

  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

  • Pinch of sea salt


Instructions

1. Preheat the Oven

  • Preheat to 350°F (175°C).

  • Grease or line a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper for easy removal.

2. Make the Dough

  • In a medium bowl, combine cake mix, melted butter, and egg.

  • Mix until a thick dough forms.

3. Form the Crust

  • Press 2/3 of the dough evenly into the bottom of the prepared pan to form the base layer.

4. Layer the Filling

  • In a separate bowl, whisk together sweetened condensed milk, vanilla extract, and sea salt.

  • Sprinkle toffee bits and chocolate chips evenly over the crust.

  • Pour the condensed milk mixture over the top.

5. Add the Topping

  • Crumble the remaining dough over the top layer. It doesn’t have to cover completely.

6. Bake

  • Bake for 25–30 minutes until golden brown and bubbly at the edges.

7. Cool and Slice

  • Let bars cool completely in the pan.

  • For clean slices, chill in the fridge for 1 hour before cutting into squares.

Notes

  • For extra caramel flavor, use a caramel-flavored sweetened condensed milk if available.

  • Be sure not to overbake—the center will set as it cools.
