Ingredients
-
2 cups graham cracker crumbs
-
½ cup unsalted butter, melted
-
¼ cup granulated sugar
-
3 packages (8 oz each) cream cheese, softened
-
1 cup granulated sugar
-
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
-
3 large eggs
-
½ cup sour cream
-
¼ cup all-purpose flour
-
3 medium apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
-
½ cup granulated sugar
-
1 teaspoon cinnamon
-
¼ teaspoon nutmeg
-
¼ cup unsalted butter
-
½ cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
-
Whipped cream (optional)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Crust
-
Preheat oven to 325°F (165°C).
-
In a mixing bowl, combine graham cracker crumbs, melted butter, and sugar until well blended.
-
Press the mixture evenly into the bottom of a 9-inch springform pan.
-
Bake for 10 minutes, then set aside to cool completely.
Step 2: Make the Cheesecake Filling
-
In a large bowl, beat cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla extract until smooth and fluffy.
-
Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
-
Mix in sour cream and flour until just combined.
-
Pour the cheesecake batter over the cooled crust and smooth the top.
Step 3: Bake the Cheesecake
-
Wrap the bottom of the springform pan in foil and place it in a water bath (a larger pan filled halfway with hot water).
-
Bake for 50–60 minutes, or until the center is just set.
-
Turn off the oven and crack the door. Let the cheesecake cool inside for 1 hour.
-
Transfer to the refrigerator and chill for at least 4 hours or overnight.
Step 4: Prepare the Caramelized Apple Topping
-
Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat.
-
Add sliced apples, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
-
Cook for 8–10 minutes until apples are tender and golden.
-
Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.
Step 5: Assemble the Cheesecake
-
Once chilled, carefully remove the cheesecake from the pan and place it on a serving plate.
-
Arrange caramelized apples evenly on top.
-
Drizzle generously with caramel sauce.
-
Add whipped cream around the edges or on top for added indulgence (optional).
Notes
-
For homemade caramel sauce, try combining butter, brown sugar, and heavy cream over heat until thickened.
-
The apple topping can also be made a day ahead and stored in the fridge.
-
For cleaner slices, dip your knife in warm water and wipe clean between each cut.
