Ingredients

Scale

For the Sloppy Joe Filling:

  • 500g ground beef (or substitute with ground turkey or plant-based meat)
  • 1 small onion, chopped (adds sweetness and depth of flavor)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced (for a savory kick)
  • ½ cup tomato sauce (creates the base of the sauce)
  • 2 tbsp ketchup (adds tanginess and sweetness)
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce (for umami richness)
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar (balances the acidity of the tomato sauce)
  • ½ tsp salt & black pepper (to season)
  • ½ tsp paprika (adds a smoky flavor)
  • ½ tsp mustard (optional) (for a tangy twist)

For the Sliders:

  • 68 sesame seed slider buns (soft and slightly sweet, perfect for sliders)
  • 68 slices cheddar cheese (gooey and delicious)
  • 2 tbsp butter, melted (for a golden, buttery finish)
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds (adds crunch and visual appeal)

Instructions

 Cook the Beef:

  • In a large pan, sauté the chopped onions and minced garlic until fragrant and softened.
  • Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it into small pieces with a spoon.

 Make the Sauce:

  • Stir in the tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  • Let the mixture simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.

 Prepare the Buns:

  • Slice the slider buns in half horizontally. Place the bottom halves in a baking dish.
  • Layer each bottom bun with a slice of cheddar cheese.

 Assemble the Sliders:

  • Spoon the sloppy joe mixture evenly over the cheese-covered buns.
  • Top with the remaining bun halves.

 Brush with Butter:

  • Lightly brush the tops of the buns with melted butter.
  • Sprinkle sesame seeds over the buttered buns for extra flavor and crunch.

 Bake for Perfection:

  • Bake at 180°C (350°F) for 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the buns are golden brown.

 Serve & Enjoy:

  • Remove from the oven, slice into individual sliders, and serve warm. Perfect for parties, game nights, or a quick dinner!

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use a mix of ground beef and ground pork.
  • If you don’t have slider buns, you can use dinner rolls or even hot dog buns.
  • Always taste the filling and adjust the seasoning before assembling the sliders.
