Ingredients

For the Batter:

  • 6 eggs
  • 150 g (⅔ cup) sugar
  • 50 g (½ cup) all-purpose flour
  • 15 g (2 tbsp) cornstarch
  • 80 ml (⅓ cup) vegetable oil
  • 15 g (2 tbsp) cocoa powder

For the Cream:

  • 250 g (1 cup) hazelnut cream
  • 200 g (⅔ cup) melted dark chocolate

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 190°C/375°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Separate egg yolks from the whites.
  3. In a blender, beat the egg yolks with sugar and vegetable oil until the mixture becomes creamy.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg whites until stiff peaks form.
  5. Gently fold the whipped egg whites into the yolk mixture.
  6. Sift flour into the batter and fold it in as well.
  7. Divide the batter into two equal portions. Mix cocoa powder into one portion and cornstarch into the other.
  8. Pour the white batter onto the prepared baking sheet and spread evenly. Bake for 5 minutes.
  9. Remove from the oven, then pour the chocolate batter over the baked white layer, spreading evenly. Bake for an additional 8 minutes.
  10. Allow the baked roll to cool down. Gently peel back the parchment.
  11. Spread hazelnut cream evenly over the cake base. Roll the cake tightly and place it in the refrigerator to set.
  12. Once set, carefully slice the roll. Dip each slice into melted dark chocolate, covering one side.
