Ingredients:
- 1 Large Egg
- 3 tbsp Sweetened condensed milk (if using unsweetened condensed milk, add 25g sugar)
- 1 tsp Yeast
- 0.6 cup Milk
- 2 cups Bread flour or wheat flour
- 1/2 tsp Salt
- 2 tbsp Unsalted butter (plus additional for greasing and brushing)
- Egg wash (1 beaten egg for brushing)
Instructions:
- In a mixing bowl, combine the egg, sweetened condensed milk (or sugar with unsweetened condensed milk), yeast, and milk. Mix thoroughly.
- Add the bread flour or wheat flour and salt to the wet ingredients. Combine until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough by hand until it forms a smooth ball. Allow the dough to rest for 20 minutes.
- After resting, add 2 tablespoons of unsalted butter to the dough. Knead the butter into the dough until well incorporated. The dough might initially be sticky, but continue kneading until it becomes smooth.
- Shape the dough into a round ball, cover it, and let it rise for about 1 hour until it doubles in size.
- Once risen, deflate the dough and divide it into 6 equal portions. Shape each portion into a round ball. Allow the portions to rest for 15 minutes, covered.
- Take one portion at a time, deflate, press down, and roll out into a long strip. Shape the dough into a rectangle and roll it up, starting from one end to form a long strip.
- Place the rolled dough portions into a greased baking dish (approximately 20x20cm/8”x8′). Repeat with all portions.
- Cover the dish and let the rolls rise for about 50 minutes.
- Preheat the oven. Once the rolls have risen, brush the surface with egg wash.
- Bake the rolls in the preheated oven at 340°F/170°C for approximately 20 minutes until they turn golden brown.
