  • 1 (10.25 oz) can cream of chicken or cheddar soup

  • 1 pint (16 oz) sour cream

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted

  • ½ cup finely chopped onion

  • 2 cups grated Colby cheese

  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper


Instructions

1. Prep the Oven and Dish

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).

  • Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter.

2. Mix the Casserole Base

  • In a large mixing bowl, combine:

    • Thawed hash browns

    • Melted butter

    • Cream of chicken or cheddar soup

    • Sour cream

    • Chopped onion

    • 1½ cups grated Colby cheese

    • Black pepper

  • Stir until fully incorporated.

3. Assemble and Bake

  • Spread the mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.

  • Top with the remaining ½ cup of Colby cheese.
