Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups cooked, shredded chicken (about 3 large breasts)
  • 1 box (6 oz) stuffing mix (e.g., Stove Top)
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Oven and Dish

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish to prevent sticking.

Step 2: Mix the Chicken Filling

  1. In a large bowl, combine the shredded chicken, cream of chicken soup, sour cream, cheddar cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Stir until everything is well incorporated.
  3. Spread the mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.

Step 3: Prepare the Stuffing Topping

  1. In another bowl, mix the stuffing mix with the melted butter and chicken broth.
  2. Let it sit for 2-3 minutes to allow the liquid to absorb.
  3. Layer the moistened stuffing evenly over the chicken mixture.

Step 4: Bake and Serve

  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, until the top is golden brown and the edges are bubbling.
  2. Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes.
  3. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley and serve warm.

Notes

  • If you prefer a crispier stuffing topping, broil for the last 2-3 minutes of baking.
  • Double the recipe for a larger crowd or meal prepping.
  • Experiment with different seasonings like paprika or Italian herbs for extra flavor.
