Ingredients:
- 1 pound pecans (and/or almonds)
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 egg white
- 1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
- 2 teaspoons water
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 250 degrees Fahrenheit (120 degrees Celsius). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or non-stick foil.
- In a large ziplock bag, mix together the sugar, ground cinnamon, and salt.
- In a large bowl, whisk the egg white, vanilla extract, and water with a fork until frothy.
- Add the pecans (or almonds) to the egg white mixture and stir until they are well coated.
- Transfer the coated nuts to the ziplock bag containing the cinnamon-sugar mixture. Seal the bag and shake until the nuts are evenly coated.
- Spread the coated nuts out onto the prepared baking sheet in a single layer.
- Bake for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes to ensure even coating and prevent sticking.
- Remove from the oven and allow the candied pecans to cool completely before serving.
