Description

This Ritz Cracker Chicken Casserole is the ultimate comfort food—tender baked chicken breasts smothered in a rich, creamy sauce and topped with a buttery, golden Ritz cracker crust. With a hint of Parmesan and a savory blend of flavors, it’s an easy weeknight dinner the whole family will love.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • 1 sleeve Ritz crackers, crushed (about 30 crackers)

  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted

  • 1 cup sour cream

  • 1 (10.5 oz) can cream of chicken soup

  • ½ cup chicken broth

  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional for garnish)

Instructions

1. Preheat and Prep

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish for easy cleanup.

2. Season the Chicken

Place the chicken breasts in the baking dish. Season both sides with salt and pepper.

3. Make the Creamy Base

In a bowl, mix the cream of chicken soup, sour cream, and chicken broth until smooth. Pour this mixture over the seasoned chicken breasts.

4. Prepare the Topping

In another bowl, combine the crushed Ritz crackers, Parmesan cheese, and melted butter. Stir until evenly coated.

5. Assemble the Casserole

Sprinkle the buttery cracker topping evenly across the chicken and sauce.

6. Bake to Perfection

Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes, or until chicken is cooked through (165°F internal temperature) and the top is golden brown.

7. Let It Rest

Allow the casserole to rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with parsley if desired.

Notes

  • Add seasoning blends like garlic powder or onion powder for an extra flavor punch

  • Make this dish ahead for potlucks, meal trains, or weeknight dinners

  • Best enjoyed fresh out of the oven with that crispy topping intact
