This Philly Cheesesteak Quesadilla recipe takes the classic flavors of a Philly cheesesteak and fuses them with the convenience and crunch of a quesadilla. With tender steak, sautéed onions, spices, and melty provolone cheese, it’s a delicious meal that’s sure to satisfy.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (453 g) beef flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • Seasoned salt, divided (adjust to taste)
  • 1 tbsp Montreal steak seasoning
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper, divided
  • 16 slices provolone cheese
  • 4 large flour tortillas
  • Vegetable oil, for cooking

Instructions

  1. Season the Steak:
    • Sprinkle the beef flank steak with 1 tablespoon of seasoned salt, Montreal steak seasoning, and 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper. Ensure the meat is evenly coated.
  2. Cook the Steak:
    • Heat a little vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat.
    • Add the seasoned steak to the skillet and cook until it’s browned and cooked through. Once done, remove it from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Sauté the Vegetables:
    • In the same skillet, add a bit more oil if needed. Add the chopped onions.
    • Sprinkle with the remaining seasoned salt and cayenne pepper.
    • Sauté the onions until they are tender and slightly caramelized, stirring occasionally.
  4. Assemble the Quesadilla:
    • Spray another skillet with oil and heat it over medium heat.
    • Place a tortilla in the skillet and layer 4 slices of provolone cheese on top.
    • On one half of the tortilla, arrange a portion of the cooked steak and on the other half, spread some of the sautéed onions.
  5. Cook the Quesadilla:
    • Once the cheese starts to melt, carefully fold the tortilla in half, pressing gently to seal the quesadilla.
    • Cook until the tortilla is golden brown on one side, then carefully flip it over to brown the other side.
  6. Serve:
    • Remove the quesadilla from the skillet and let it rest for a minute before slicing into four pieces.
    • Repeat the process with the remaining tortillas, cheese, steak, and onions.
  7. Enjoy:
    • Serve the Philly Cheesesteak Quesadillas hot, with your choice of dipping sauces such as sour cream, salsa, or extra steak sauce if desired.

This delicious fusion of Philly cheesesteak and quesadilla is perfect for a quick dinner or a hearty lunch. Enjoy the melty cheese, savory steak, and the kick of cayenne pepper in every bite!
