2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
-
Salt and pepper, to taste
-
3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
-
1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
-
2 cups marinara sauce
-
1 cup béchamel sauce (optional, for extra creaminess)
-
Fresh basil (optional)
Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven
-
Set oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. Prepare the Noodles
-
If using traditional lasagna noodles, cook according to package instructions.
-
Drain and lay them flat on a clean towel to prevent sticking.
3. Cook the Meat
-
In a large skillet, cook ground beef over medium heat until browned.
-
Drain excess fat and season with salt and pepper. Set aside.
4. Mix the Ricotta Layer
-
In a bowl, combine:
-
Ricotta cheese
-
Egg
-
Italian seasoning
-
Salt and pepper
-
-
Stir until smooth and well blended.
5. Assemble the Lasagna
In a greased 9×13-inch baking dish:
-
Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom.
-
Add 3 noodles to cover.
-
Spread a third of the ricotta mixture.
-
Add a layer of cooked meat.
-
Sprinkle with mozzarella and Parmesan.
-
Repeat layers (sauce, noodles, ricotta, meat, cheese) two more times.
-
Finish with noodles, remaining marinara and béchamel (if using), and the remaining mozzarella and Parmesan.
6. Bake
-
Cover the dish with foil and bake for 25 minutes.
-
Remove foil and bake an additional 15 minutes, or until cheese is golden and bubbly.
7. Let It Rest
-
Allow the lasagna to cool for 10–15 minutes before slicing.
-
Garnish with fresh basil if desired.
Notes
-
Don’t overcook the noodles—they will continue to cook in the oven.
-
Use freshly grated cheese for better melting and flavor.
-
For extra browning, broil the top for the last 2 minutes (watch closely).
