Ingredients:
- 2 large unbeaten egg whites
- 1 1/4 cups granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup cold water
- 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar or 1 teaspoon corn syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
Directions:
- Combine the egg whites, sugar, water, and cream of tartar in the top of a double boiler. Mix well.
- Place over boiling water and whisk constantly until the mixture reaches stiff peaks. This will take at least 7 minutes, but most likely closer to 10.
- Remove from the heat.
- Add the vanilla and continue whisking until it’s thick enough to spread.
- Makes 5-6 cups of frosting.
