  • 2 tablespoons orange juice

  • 1 3/4 cups (220g) all-purpose flour

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar

  • 1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter, softened

  • 2 large eggs, at room temperature

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 2 tablespoons orange zest

  • 1/2 cup (120ml) fresh orange juice

  • 1/2 cup (120ml) buttermilk, room temperature

  • Optional: a few drops of orange food coloring

  • 1 cup (230g) unsalted butter, softened

  • 4 cups (500g) powdered sugar

  • 1/4 cup (60ml) heavy cream

  • 2 tablespoons orange juice

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 1 teaspoon orange zest

  • Optional: a few drops of orange food coloring

  • Orange slices or zest

  • Whipped cream (optional)


Instructions

1. Make the Cheesecake Layer

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (163°C). Line a 9-inch springform pan with parchment paper and lightly grease the sides.

  2. In a large bowl, beat cream cheese and sugar until smooth.

  3. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each.

  4. Mix in sour cream, vanilla, orange zest, and juice.

4. Assemble the Cake

  1. Place one orange cake layer on a serving plate.

  2. Spread a thin layer of frosting.

  3. Carefully place the cheesecake layer on top.

  4. Spread another thin layer of frosting.

  5. Top with the second orange cake layer.

  6. Frost the top and sides with remaining frosting.
