Ingredients
Scale
400g raw shrimp (large, peeled, and deveined)
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon smoked paprika
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
3 tablespoons butter
3 cloves garlic (finely chopped)
2 tablespoons honey
60ml (1/4 cup) Hennessy cognac
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1/2 teaspoon Cayenne pepper (optional)
1 tablespoon freshly squeezed lemon juice
Chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
- Season and Cook the Shrimp:
- In a bowl, toss the shrimp with olive oil, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
- Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp and cook for 1-2 minutes per side, until they turn pink and lightly golden. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- Prepare the Hennessy Butter Sauce:
- In the same skillet, melt the butter over medium heat.
- Add the chopped garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Stir in the honey, Hennessy cognac, soy sauce, and Cayenne pepper (if using). Simmer for 2-3 minutes, stirring, until the sauce thickens slightly and becomes glossy.
- Coat the Shrimp and Serve:
- Return the shrimp to the skillet and toss to coat generously with the sauce.
- Add the lemon juice and cook for an additional minute to combine the flavors.
- Serve immediately, garnished with chopped parsley.
Notes
- For a non-alcoholic version, replace the Hennessy with apple juice or chicken broth.
- Use a large skillet to ensure even cooking of the shrimp.
- Garnish with additional lemon wedges for a fresh, zesty finish.
