Pigs in a Blanket

  • Author: easysweetmeal
  • Total Time: 25 minutes
  • Yield: 24 pigs in a blanket 1x

Description

A fun, tasty, and easy snack that everyone loves! Perfect for parties, game nights, or just a simple treat. 🌭🥨 These savory little bites are made with cocktail sausages wrapped in crescent roll dough, then baked to golden perfection.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (8 oz) crescent roll dough (or puff pastry for a flakier option)
  • 1 package cocktail sausages (or mini hot dogs, about 24 pieces)
  • 1 egg (for egg wash, optional but recommended for a golden finish)
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional, for added crunch and flavor)
  • Mustard or ketchup (for dipping, optional)

Instructions

Preheat the Oven:

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) or as per the instructions on your crescent roll dough package.

 Prepare the Dough:

  • Unroll the crescent roll dough on a clean surface and separate it into triangles (as per the instructions on the dough package).
  • If using puff pastry, roll it out and cut into small rectangles.

 Wrap the Sausages:

  • Place one cocktail sausage at the wider end of each triangle of dough.
  • Roll it up tightly, sealing the edges so the dough doesn’t unravel while baking.

 Egg Wash (Optional):

  • Beat the egg in a small bowl and brush it over the top of each pig in a blanket.
  • Sprinkle sesame seeds on top for added crunch and flavor, if desired.

 Bake:

  • Arrange the pigs in a blanket on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the dough is golden brown and crispy.

 Serve:

  • Serve warm with mustard, ketchup, or any dipping sauce of your choice. Enjoy! 🌭🥨

Notes

  • For a fun twist, try using different shapes like spirals or knots instead of traditional rolls.
  • If you don’t have parchment paper, lightly grease the baking sheet to prevent sticking.
  • Always let the pigs in a blanket cool slightly before serving to avoid burns.
