A decadent Southern classic! Toasted pecans in a glossy chocolate custard, baked in a buttery crust—pure indulgence.
Ingredients
-
1 pre-baked 9-inch pie crust (store-bought or homemade)
-
200g (about 2 cups) chopped pecans
-
150g (1 cup) semi-sweet chocolate chips
-
3 large eggs
-
200g (2/3 cup) light corn syrup
-
100g (1/2 cup) granulated sugar
-
50g (1/4 cup) brown sugar, packed
-
120g (1/2 cup) unsalted butter, melted
-
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
-
1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven
-
Set the oven temperature to 180°C (350°F).
2. Prepare the Pie Base
-
Spread the chopped pecans evenly over the bottom of the pre-baked pie crust.
3. Melt the Chocolate
-
Melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips either in the microwave using 20-second bursts or over a double boiler until smooth.
-
Let the melted chocolate cool slightly before mixing.
4. Make the Filling
-
In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, corn syrup, granulated sugar, brown sugar, melted butter, vanilla extract, and salt until smooth and well combined.
-
Stir in the melted chocolate until fully incorporated.
5. Assemble the Pie
-
Carefully pour the chocolate filling over the pecans in the crust, making sure the nuts stay evenly distributed.
6. Bake the Pie
-
Bake in the preheated oven for 50 to 55 minutes, or until the filling is set.
-
Test doneness by inserting a toothpick into the center—it should come out clean or with moist crumbs.
7. Cool and Serve
-
Let the pie cool completely on a wire rack to allow the filling to firm up.
-
Slice and serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for an indulgent experience.
Notes
-
This pie balances the crunch of pecans with creamy chocolate for a memorable dessert.
-
Use a sharp serrated knife to slice the pie cleanly.
-
