Description

This hearty Spaghetti Pie is the ultimate comfort food—combining a buttery pasta crust, creamy ricotta layer, and savory meat sauce, all baked to perfection and topped with melty mozzarella. It’s a crowd-pleasing twist on traditional pasta night.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 ounces spaghetti

  • 2 tablespoons butter

  • 2 large eggs

  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • 1 cup ricotta cheese

  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (or 2 teaspoons dried parsley)

  • ½ teaspoon dried basil (or 1 tablespoon fresh basil)

  • 1 pound lean ground beef

  • ½ small onion, diced

  • 14.5 ounces canned diced tomatoes, drained

  • 2 cups pasta sauce

  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

1. Preheat and Prepare

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a deep-dish pie plate or 9-inch round baking dish.

2. Cook the Spaghetti

Boil the spaghetti according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain well and return to the pot. Stir in butter until melted and well combined.

3. Make the Crust

In a small bowl, whisk together the eggs and Parmesan cheese. Pour over the buttered spaghetti and toss until evenly coated. Press the spaghetti mixture into the prepared pie dish to form a crust, pushing it slightly up the sides.

4. Layer the Ricotta Filling

In a separate bowl, mix ricotta cheese with parsley and basil. Spread this mixture evenly over the spaghetti crust.

5. Cook the Meat Sauce

In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef and diced onion until fully cooked. Drain any excess fat. Stir in the drained diced tomatoes and pasta sauce. Simmer for 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and the sauce to slightly thicken.

6. Assemble the Pie

Pour the meat sauce evenly over the ricotta layer.

7. Bake and Top with Cheese

Place the pie in the oven and bake for 20–25 minutes. Remove, sprinkle the top with mozzarella cheese, and return to the oven for another 5 minutes until melted and bubbly.

8. Cool and Serve

Let the spaghetti pie cool for 5–10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm and enjoy a slice of this Italian-inspired comfort classic

Notes

This spaghetti pie is a fusion of pizza, pasta, and lasagna—all in one crowd-pleasing dish. With gooey cheese, rich tomato sauce, and a unique spaghetti crust, it’s a winning dinner idea that will quickly become a family favorite.
