Description

This Texas Roadhouse Butter Chicken Skillet is a bold, one-pan meal with tender chicken in a creamy, buttery garlic-Parmesan sauce. Quick, comforting, and perfect for busy weeknights

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces

  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, divided

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

  • 1 teaspoon onion powder

  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1/2 cup chicken broth (low sodium preferred)

  • 1/2 cup heavy cream

  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • Fresh chopped parsley, for garnish

Instructions

Step 1: Sear the Chicken

  • Heat olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat

  • Season the chicken with garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper

  • Add the chicken to the skillet in a single layer

  • Cook for 8 to 10 minutes, turning occasionally, until golden brown and cooked through

  • Remove from skillet and set aside

Step 2: Build the Sauce

  • In the same skillet, add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter

  • Pour in the chicken broth and bring to a light simmer

  • Let it reduce for 2–3 minutes to concentrate the flavor

Step 3: Add the Creamy Elements

  • Stir in the heavy cream and Parmesan cheese

  • Mix continuously until the sauce thickens, about 3 to 4 minutes

  • Reduce heat to low for better control over the sauce consistency

Step 4: Return Chicken to the Pan

  • Add the cooked chicken back into the skillet

  • Toss until fully coated with the creamy butter sauce

  • Simmer together for 2–3 more minutes so the flavors meld

Step 5: Garnish and Serve

  • Sprinkle with fresh parsley for a pop of color and brightness

  • Serve immediately over rice, mashed potatoes, pasta, or a bed of sautéed spinach

Notes

  • For a deeper garlic flavor, sauté 1–2 cloves of minced garlic with the butter in Step 2

  • This recipe is ideal for meal prep—reheats beautifully without drying out

  • Customize seasoning to taste—try Cajun, Italian, or lemon pepper blends
