Ingredients:
- 1 lb lean ground beef
- 2.5 cups onion, chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 3/4 cup ketchup
- 2 teaspoons tomato paste
- 1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 2 1/2 teaspoons brown sugar
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 slices Green Mill Texas Toast
- 1 ounce Cheddar cheese, shredded
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 375 degrees.
- In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef and chopped onions. Once done, drain off any excess fat.
- Add the ketchup, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, garlic powder, salt, and pepper to the skillet. Stir well to combine all the ingredients.
- Cook the mixture over medium heat until it thickens to your desired consistency.
- While the mixture is simmering, place the Green Mill Texas Toast in the preheated oven.
- Bake the toast until it turns a golden brown, which usually takes about 5 to 6 minutes.
- Once the toast is golden and the Sloppy Joe Mixture is ready, spread the mixture on top of each piece of golden-brown Texas Toast.
- Finish by topping each piece of toast with 1/4 ounce of shredded Cheddar Cheese.
- Enjoy your Sloppy Joe on Toast with melted Cheddar Cheese!
Does this recipe call for two and a half CUPS of chopped onion ? It says 2.5, that is two and a half cups ! No thank you !
