Turtle Bars

 

For the Crust:

  • 1/2 cup of butter
  • 2 cups of flour
  • 1 cup of brown sugar
  • 1 cup of pecan pieces

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the butter, flour, and brown sugar using a pastry blender or a fork until the mixture becomes crumbly.
  3. Press the mixture into an ungreased 9″ x 13″ baking pan.
  4. Sprinkle the pecan pieces evenly over the crust.

For the Caramel Layer:

  • 2/3 cup of butter
  • 1/2 cup of brown sugar

Instructions:

  1. In a saucepan, combine the butter and brown sugar.
  2. Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring continuously until it comes to a boil.
  3. Let it boil for 1 minute, then pour it evenly over the crust.

Baking:

  1. Bake the crust in the preheated oven for 20 minutes.

For the Topping:

  • 1 cup of milk chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Once the crust is done baking, remove it from the oven and sprinkle the chocolate chips over the top.
  2. Let the chocolate chips sit for 5 minutes to melt, then spread them evenly over the surface of the bars.
  3. Allow the bars to cool completely before slicing them into desired portion sizes.
