Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 4 eggs
- 1 stick of butter, at room temperature
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1.5 cups sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup water
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a baking pan with butter and dust it with flour. Set it aside.
- Mix Dry Ingredients: In a bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and nutmeg. Set this dry mixture aside.
- Cream Butter and Sugar: In a mixing bowl, add the softened butter and sugar. Cream them together until the mixture becomes smooth, fluffy, and creamy.
- Add Eggs and Vanilla: Add the eggs one at a time to the butter-sugar mixture, mixing well after each addition. Also, mix in the vanilla extract.
- Alternate Wet and Dry Ingredients: Begin alternating the addition of the dry flour mixture and the milk, starting and ending with the dry ingredients. Mix until well combined after each addition.
- Pour Batter: Pour the cake batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly.
- Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes or until the cake is golden and caramelized on the edges. To check if it’s done, insert a toothpick into the center of the cake; it should come out clean when the cake is ready.
- Cool: Allow the cake to cool in the pan for a few minutes, then remove it from the pan and transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Serve: Once the cake has cooled, you can serve it plain or with your preferred toppings.
