Description

Herb & Cheese Quick Bread – A savory, no-yeast loaf packed with cheddar and fresh herbs (rosemary, thyme, parsley). Ready in <1 hour, golden outside, soft inside. Perfect with butter or soup!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tablespoon sugar

  • 1 tablespoon baking powder

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley

  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh thyme

  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh rosemary

  • 1 cup whole milk

  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted

  • 2 large eggs

Instructions

1. Preheat and Prep

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  • Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper for easier cleanup.

2. Mix Dry Ingredients

  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.

  • Stir in shredded cheddar and chopped herbs until evenly distributed.

3. Combine Wet Ingredients

  • In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, melted butter, and eggs until smooth.

4. Make the Batter

  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients.

  • Stir just until combined—do not overmix, as this can make the bread dense.

5. Bake

  • Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan.

  • Bake for 45–50 minutes, or until golden brown and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

6. Cool and Serve

  • Let the loaf cool in the pan for 10 minutes.

  • Transfer to a wire rack and allow to cool completely before slicing.

Notes

  • Let the bread cool completely before slicing to avoid crumbling.

  • This bread is best served slightly warm with a pat of butter or a drizzle of olive oil.

  • Makes a thoughtful homemade gift—wrap in parchment and tie with twine!
