Salisbury Steak Garlic Mash Potatoes Mushroom & Onion Gravy

Ingredients:

For the Steaks:

  • 1 lb Ground beef
  • 1/4 cup Breadcrumbs
  • 1 Large egg
  • 1/2 Onion, chopped fine
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 1 Package refrigerated prepared mashed potatoes (cooked to package instructions)

For the Gravy:

  • 2 tbsp Butter
  • 8 oz Sliced mushrooms
  • 2 cups Beef broth
  • 2 tbsp Flour
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Steaks:

  • In a bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, chopped onion, Worcestershire sauce, and salt and pepper to taste.
  • Mix with your hands until well combined.
  • Form the meat mixture into four even patties.
  • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Add the patties to the skillet and sauté for a few minutes on each side until evenly seared. Remove and set aside.

2. Prepare the Gravy:

  • Remove excess fat from the skillet.
  • Place butter and mushrooms into the skillet over medium heat, sauté until the mushrooms begin to soften.
  • Sprinkle flour over the mushrooms, stir to combine well.
  • Slowly whisk in the beef broth and add salt and pepper to taste if needed.

3. Finish the Dish:

  • Return the seared patties to the skillet, reduce heat to medium-low.
  • Simmer until the meat is cooked through and the gravy is thickened.

4. Serve:

  • Serve the Salisbury steaks over the prepared mashed potatoes.
  • Spoon the mushroom gravy over the top.
