- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an oven-safe skillet.
- In the skillet, melt butter over medium heat; stir in brown sugar until bubbly. Add apple slices and cook for about 5 minutes until softened.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla until smooth.
- Pour the batter over the caramelized apples in the skillet.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let cool slightly, then flip onto a serving plate to reveal the caramelized top.
Notes
For extra flavor, sprinkle a touch of cinnamon or nutmeg over the apples before adding the batter. Serve warm with whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an indulgent treat.
