  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Method
 

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease an oven-safe skillet.
  2. In the skillet, melt butter over medium heat; stir in brown sugar until bubbly. Add apple slices and cook for about 5 minutes until softened.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, granulated sugar, eggs, and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Pour the batter over the caramelized apples in the skillet.
  5. Bake for 30–35 minutes or until golden brown and a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Let cool slightly, then flip onto a serving plate to reveal the caramelized top.

Notes
