Method
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Line a 9-inch pie plate with one pie crust and crimp the edges.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together apple butter, heavy cream, eggs, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until smooth.
- Pour the apple butter mixture into the prepared pie crust.
- Top with the second pie crust. Cut slits in the top crust for steam to escape and crimp the edges to seal.
- Bake 45-50 minutes until crust is golden brown and filling is set. Cover edges with foil if browning too quickly.
- Cool completely before slicing and serving.
Notes
Use chilled pie crusts for a flakier texture. Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for an extra treat.
