Ingredients

  • 1 package refrigerated pie crusts 14.1 ounces
  • 1 cup apple butter
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
  • Pinch salt

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Line a 9-inch pie plate with one pie crust and crimp the edges.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together apple butter, heavy cream, eggs, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until smooth.
  4. Pour the apple butter mixture into the prepared pie crust.
  5. Top with the second pie crust. Cut slits in the top crust for steam to escape and crimp the edges to seal.
  6. Bake 45-50 minutes until crust is golden brown and filling is set. Cover edges with foil if browning too quickly.
  7. Cool completely before slicing and serving.

Notes

Use chilled pie crusts for a flakier texture. Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for an extra treat.
