Baked Creamy Chicken Mozzarella Pasta

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb (450 g) penne pasta (or pasta of your choice)
  • 2 large chicken breasts, cooked and cubed
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup marinara sauce
  • 1½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Fresh basil or parsley, chopped (for garnish)

  • Large pot for pasta
  • Large skillet
  • 9x13-inch baking dish
  • Wooden spoon or spatula
  • Measuring cups & spoons

Method
 

  1. Prep the Oven & Baking DishPreheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish and set aside.
  2. Cook the PastaBoil pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. Make the Sauce BaseIn a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté onion until soft and translucent, about 3–4 minutes. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant
  4. Create the Creamy Tomato SaucePour in heavy cream and marinara sauce. Stir well and let simmer for 2–3 minutes. Season with dried basil, oregano, salt, and pepper.
  5. Add the ChickenStir in the cooked chicken cubes until well coated in sauce. Remove from heat.
  6. Combine Pasta & SauceToss the cooked pasta with the sauce mixture. Stir in 1 cup mozzarella and all of the Parmesan cheese until evenly mixed.
  7. Assemble & BakeTransfer mixture to the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle remaining ½ cup mozzarella on top. Bake for 15–20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly
  8. Garnish & ServeTop with fresh basil or parsley before serving warm.

Notes

  • Fresh herbs make a big difference in presentation and flavor.
  • Adjust seasoning to taste before baking.
