Ingredients

  • 1 lb sausage
  • 1.5 oz peppered sausage gravy mix (Pioneer Brand)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 6 eggs
  • 0.5 cup milk
  • salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 8 oz can Pillsbury Grands Biscuits

Equipment

  • 9x13-inch baking pan
  • skillet
  • Mixing bowl
  • Whisk
  • Oven
  • Measuring cups and spoons

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. Cut biscuits into 1-inch pieces and spread them evenly across the bottom of the pan.
  3. Cook sausage in a skillet until browned. Drain excess grease and scatter sausage over the biscuits.
  4. Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese evenly over the sausage layer.
  5. In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, salt, and pepper. Pour egg mixture evenly over the casserole.
  6. Prepare the sausage gravy according to the package instructions. Pour the prepared gravy evenly over the casserole.
  7. Bake for 30–45 minutes, or until the casserole is golden, set, and cooked through.

Notes

For extra flavor, use spicy sausage or add a pinch of cayenne to the gravy. This is a great make-ahead breakfast — assemble the night before and bake in the morning.
