Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup vanilla custard
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil

Equipment

  • Mixing bowls
  • Electric mixer
  • Baking sheet
  • microwave-safe bowl

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a medium bowl. Set aside.
  3. Cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 2–3 minutes.
  4. Beat in egg and vanilla until well combined.
  5. Gradually add dry ingredients to wet mixture, mixing just until combined.
  6. Scoop dough onto prepared sheet, spacing 2 inches apart. Bake 10–12 minutes until edges are lightly golden. Cool completely.
  7. Press an indentation into each cooled cookie and fill with about 1 teaspoon vanilla custard.
  8. Melt chocolate chips with vegetable oil in 30-second microwave bursts. Drizzle over cookies and let set 10–15 minutes.

Notes

Chill cookies briefly before filling for cleaner custard wells. Store refrigerated for best texture.
