Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder optional
  • 1 1/2 cups cheddar cheese shredded
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 2 tbsp honey optional

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease or line a 9x5-inch loaf pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and garlic powder if using. Stir in shredded cheddar cheese.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, egg, melted butter, and honey if using.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
  5. Transfer the batter to the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  6. Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.

Notes

For extra flavor, add chopped chives or cooked bacon bits. Best served warm with butter.
