Method
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease or line a 9x5-inch loaf pan with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and garlic powder if using. Stir in shredded cheddar cheese.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together milk, egg, melted butter, and honey if using.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and gently stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Transfer the batter to the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
Notes
For extra flavor, add chopped chives or cooked bacon bits. Best served warm with butter.
