Ingredients

  • 1 ½ pounds ground beef
  • 2 cups cooked white rice
  • 1 can (10.75 oz) condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • ½ cup milk
  • 1 ½ cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Equipment

  • Large skillet
  • Mixing bowl
  • 9x13-inch baking dish
  • Wooden spoon or spatula
  • Cheese grater (if shredding fresh cheese)

Method

  1. Set your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned and no longer pink. Drain excess fat to avoid a greasy casserole.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine cooked ground beef, rice, cream of mushroom soup, milk, 1 cup cheddar cheese, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Stir until well combined.
  4. Spread the beef and rice mixture evenly in your prepared baking dish.
  5. Sprinkle the remaining ½ cup of shredded cheddar cheese over the top.
  6. Bake uncovered for about 25 minutes, or until the casserole is hot, bubbly, and the cheese is fully melted.
  7. Let the casserole rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.

Notes

  • For best flavor, use sharp cheddar cheese.
  • Always cook the rice before mixing—it won’t cook properly if added raw.
  • If you prefer a creamier texture, add an extra ¼ cup of milk.
