  • 1 cup butter
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt

  • 9x13-inch baking dish
  • Oven
  • mixing whisk
  • knife for slicing butter

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Whisk together the instant pudding mix and milk directly in the baking dish.
  3. Sprinkle the dry cake mix evenly over the pudding layer—do not stir.
  4. Slice butter into thin pats and place evenly across the cake mix layer.
  5. Add chocolate chips and drizzle vanilla extract over the top.
  6. Bake for 40-45 minutes, until the top is set and slightly crispy.
  7. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving warm with ice cream or whipped cream.

Notes

Best served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. You can switch up the flavor by using white chocolate chips or peanut butter chips instead. Store leftovers in the fridge and reheat gently before serving.
