  • 1 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Melt the butter in a saucepan or microwave-safe bowl. Stir in the granulated sugar until well combined.

  4. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring just until combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips and chopped nuts, if using.
  7. Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan.
  8. Bake for 30–35 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  9. Cool completely in the pan before slicing into bars and serving.

Notes

For extra indulgence, drizzle the cooled bars with chocolate ganache or dust lightly with powdered sugar.
