Method
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease or line a 9×13-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
- Melt the butter in a saucepan or microwave-safe bowl. Stir in the granulated sugar until well combined.
- Whisk in the eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla extract and mix until smooth.
- In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring just until combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips and chopped nuts, if using.
- Spread the batter evenly into the prepared pan.
- Bake for 30–35 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Cool completely in the pan before slicing into bars and serving.

For extra indulgence, drizzle the cooled bars with chocolate ganache or dust lightly with powdered sugar.
