Beat softened butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
Mix in vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cinnamon, and salt.
Gradually add dry ingredients to butter mixture, mixing just until combined.
Fold in chopped nuts if using.
Scoop 1 tablespoon portions and roll into 1-inch balls.
Place cookies 2 inches apart and bake for 10–12 minutes until bottoms are lightly golden.
Cool on baking sheet for 5 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack.
While still warm, roll cookies in powdered sugar for a snowy finish.
