Ingredients

  • 2 cans (14.5 oz each) cut green beans, drained
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
  • 1 1/2 cups French’s fried onions

Equipment

  • 9x13-inch baking dish
  • Large mixing bowl
  • Mixing spoon
  • Oven

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the drained green beans, cream of mushroom soup, milk, soy sauce, garlic powder, and black pepper. Stir until well combined.
  3. If using, stir in the shredded cheddar cheese to the green bean mixture.
  4. Pour the green bean mixture into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 25–30 minutes, or until the casserole is hot and bubbly.
  6. Remove the casserole from the oven and top with fried onions. Return to the oven for 5–10 minutes, until onions are crispy and golden brown.
  7. Let the casserole cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy!

Notes

Make it vegetarian by using cream of mushroom soup without meat stock. Add a pinch of cayenne or paprika for a flavor boost. Can be prepped ahead and baked just before serving.
