Method
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a 13×9-inch baking pan with aluminum foil and spray with nonstick cooking spray.
- In a large bowl, whisk together flour, confectioners' sugar, and salt. Cut in softened butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Press the crust mixture firmly into the bottom of the prepared pan and bake for 15 to 18 minutes or until lightly browned.
- In another bowl, combine brown sugar, dark corn syrup, melted butter, eggs, pecans, and chocolate chips; mix well.
- Pour the filling over the baked crust and return to the oven for 30 to 35 minutes or until set.
- Allow the bars to cool completely before slicing into squares.
Notes
For a slightly less sweet version, reduce chocolate chips to 3/4 cup or use bittersweet chocolate. Store bars chilled for cleaner slices.
