Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 jar (24 oz) marinara sauce
  • 1 can (15 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 package (25 oz) frozen cheese ravioli
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tbsp Italian seasoning
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • fresh parsley, chopped (optional)

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F and grease a baking dish.
  2. Brown ground beef with onion and garlic in a skillet. Drain, then add marinara and crushed tomatoes. Simmer for 5 minutes.
  3. In a bowl, mix ricotta, sour cream, and cream cheese until smooth.
  4. Layer meat sauce, ravioli, ricotta mixture, and mozzarella in the dish. Repeat layers as needed.
  5. Top with remaining sauce, mozzarella, Parmesan, and Italian seasoning.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Uncover and bake 15 more minutes until bubbly.
  7. Let cool for a few minutes, garnish with parsley, and serve warm.

Notes

You can prepare this casserole ahead of time and refrigerate for up to 24 hours before baking. For a freezer-friendly version, assemble the casserole without baking, wrap tightly, and freeze for up to 3 months. Bake from frozen at 350°F for about 1 hour covered, then uncover and bake until bubbly.
