Ingredients
  

  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 large egg
  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • Optional Toppings Chopped pecans or walnuts, powdered sugar for dusting

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, mix yellow cake mix, melted butter, and 1 egg until well combined.
  3. Press cake mixture evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  4. In a separate bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth. Add eggs and vanilla extract and mix until combined.
  5. Gradually add powdered sugar, continuing to mix until creamy. Stir in melted butter until fully incorporated.
  6. Pour cream cheese mixture over cake base and spread evenly.
  7. Bake for 35–40 minutes until the top is golden brown but still slightly gooey in the center.
  8. Let cake cool before slicing. Dust with powdered sugar or sprinkle with chopped nuts if desired.
  9. Serve warm or chilled.

Notes

This cake is best served slightly warm for a gooey texture but can also be enjoyed chilled. Adding nuts gives a pleasant crunch contrast to the creamy top layer.
