Ingredients
  

  • 6 large apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

Method
 

  1. Place sliced apples in the slow cooker.
  2. In a small saucepan, melt butter over low heat. Stir in brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until smooth.
  3. Pour butter mixture over apples and stir gently to coat.
  4. Add vanilla extract and lemon juice, mix again.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 4–6 hours, stirring occasionally.
  6. Serve warm as a side dish or dessert.

Notes

Use a mix of tart and sweet apples for best flavor. Great served warm chops, roasted meats, or as a dessert with vanilla ice cream. Leftovers can be stored in the fridge for up to 4 days and reheated before serving.
