Ingredients

  • 1 pie crust (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 cup corn syrup
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup packed brown sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 cup semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips

Equipment

  • 9-inch pie dish
  • Mixing bowls
  • Whisk
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Aluminum foil or pie shield

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Place pie crust in a 9-inch pie plate and crimp edges.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together corn syrup, granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, melted butter, vanilla, and salt until smooth.
  4. Fold in pecans and chocolate chips.
  5. Pour filling into prepared crust.
  6. Bake for 55–65 minutes, covering edges with foil if they brown too quickly.
  7. Check doneness: center should be mostly set but slightly jiggly.
  8. Cool on a wire rack for at least 2 hours before slicing.

Notes

  • Use a deep-dish pie crust to prevent overflow.
  • For a picture-perfect pie, arrange pecan halves on top before baking.
  • Best served slightly warm with whipped cream or ice cream.
