Ingredients
  

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup coffee liqueur (like Kahlúa)
  • 2 tbsp whiskey bourbon
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar

Method
 

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease or line a cake pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs, coffee liqueur, whiskey, and vanilla extract.
  4. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture, stirring gently until just combined.
  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  6. Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. For frosting, beat together coffee liqueur, bourbon, and heavy cream until soft peaks form. Gradually add powdered sugar until the frosting is thick and spreadable.
  8. Frost the cooled cake as desired and serve with a smile worthy of the Dude.

Notes

Serve this cake chilled or at room temperature. For an extra kick, brush the warm cake with a bit of bourbon-coffee syrup. You can substitute non-alcoholic coffee syrup for a family-friendly version. Store in the fridge for up to 4 days.
