Method
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease or line a cake pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, whisk together buttermilk, vegetable oil, eggs, coffee liqueur, whiskey, and vanilla extract.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture, stirring gently until just combined.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30–35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
- For frosting, beat together coffee liqueur, bourbon, and heavy cream until soft peaks form. Gradually add powdered sugar until the frosting is thick and spreadable.
- Frost the cooled cake as desired and serve with a smile worthy of the Dude.
Notes
Serve this cake chilled or at room temperature. For an extra kick, brush the warm cake with a bit of bourbon-coffee syrup. You can substitute non-alcoholic coffee syrup for a family-friendly version. Store in the fridge for up to 4 days.
