Ingredients
Method
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in the egg and vanilla until fully incorporated.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually mix into the wet ingredients until a soft dough forms.
- Scoop tablespoon-sized portions of dough and roll into balls. Place on the prepared baking sheet about 2 inches apart. Flatten slightly, then create ridges using a fork, potato masher, or washboard-style press.
- Bake for 11–13 minutes, until edges are just turning golden. Allow to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Optionally, dust cooled cookies with powdered sugar for a farmhouse-style finish.
Notes
Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days. For extra flavor, add a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg to the dough.
