Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 package (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Equipment

  • skillet
  • Mixing bowl
  • Spatula
  • baking sheet lined with parchment paper
  • Pastry brush

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef for 5–7 minutes, breaking it apart as it cooks.
  3. Stir in the chopped onion and minced garlic. Cook for 3–4 minutes until softened and fragrant.
  4. Add smoked paprika, oregano, salt, and pepper. Stir well and cook for another minute. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
  5. In a mixing bowl, combine the cooled beef mixture with cheddar and mozzarella cheese until well blended.
  6. Unroll crescent dough and separate triangles. Add a spoonful of filling to the wide end of each triangle, then roll toward the point and seal edges.
  7. Place rolls seam side down on the baking sheet and brush tops with beaten egg.
  8. Bake for 12–15 minutes or until golden brown and flaky.
  9. Let cool slightly, garnish with chopped parsley, and serve warm.

Notes

For extra cheesiness, sprinkle shredded cheddar over the croissants before baking. For a creamier filling, mix in a spoonful of cream cheese with the beef mixture. These reheat beautifully, making them ideal for meal prep or weeknight dinners.
